The Spiciest Art in Commander Masters
Commander Masters is here! Most people are excited for the new cards, new mechanics, new lore. However, I am most excited for the new artwork! I love seeing the different interpretations of the characters and creatures from the game. The art team always does an amazing job, and I can't wait to see what they have in store for us this time around. I'm also hoping for some new card backs and other cosmetic items. The artwork is a big part of what makes the game so enjoyable for me, so I'm always happy to see new additions.
Today though, we’re going to indulge ourselves in the hottest artwork of Commander Masters. No, I’m not talking about fireball spells either. These are obviously going to be skewed by my personal tastes, so if it’s not your flavor I’d love to hear what arts would go on your list!
Alharu, Solemn Ritualist (they/them)
The magnificent person took what was literally haunting them and embraced it as their calling. Carving spiritual runes into their body they embraced the spirits that spoke to them and now work to help them find peace. That alone is an amazing quality in a person but then you have a perfect specism of a human.
Not only do they have a physically stunning body, but their soul is just as beautiful. They are kind, compassionate, and always willing to help others who came before. They are truly a beautiful person inside and out.
Zahid, Djinn of the Lamp (he/him)
If you’re looking for a daddy in Magic’s Multiverse look no further. He’s big, he’s powerful, but he can also be brought under control with the correct…. bindings. This burly man's muscles would make him an excellent candidate for giving bear hugs. His arms are thick and strong, and his chest is broad and sturdy. He would be able to wrap his arms around someone and squeeze them tightly, providing a sense of comfort and security. In addition, his muscles would make him very warm, so the person receiving the hug would feel very cozy.
Judith, the Scourge Diva (she/her)
Mommy? Sorry. Mommy? Sorry. Mommy?
Judith can step on my neck any day of the week (figuratively speaking, of course). We both know that those chains and whips (or chain whips) are exciting. Her acts on the Rakdos stage consist of both singing and pain stunts. I wonder if her part of the show would be considered a burlesque act or is she purely an exhibitionist? Either way, I want tickets for the show and a backstage pass, please and thank you.
Mirri, Weatherlight Duelist (she/her)
Mirri is a powerful warrior and she’s a quick, proficient fighter with her swords. Who doesn’t swoon for a kitten with a sword that could easily kill you where you stand? Yeah, that’s what I thought. She, however, only has eyes for her lost love Garrard who could never see her in the same way. Though she seems to be steadfast in her devotion to him, she still deserves to have a quiet night to unwind and relax. Do you think she’d be down to go on a spa date? I think it would be a reluctant yes and pretending not to enjoy it but secretly loving every minute.
Tatyova, Benthic Druid (she/her)
I don’t know what it is about this artwork of Tatyova that speaks to me, but it’s just so good. The defined jaw line and nonchalant-ness of her expression is perfection. She left her home to study with the elves of Yavimaya. With the attunement of both the forest and tides, I imagine a date night would be a cozy evening in a peaceful grove with willow trees surrounding a calm pool of water. The trees would be swaying in the gentle breeze, and the sound of the water lapping against the shore would be soothing. We would sit on a blanket near the edge of the water, enjoying the company of each other and the beauty of nature. Maybe we would have a picnic, or just relax and talk. It would be a perfect evening to connect with each other and appreciate the simple things in life.
Anikthea, Hand of Erebos (she/her)
Anikthea was granted partial divinity by Erobos and now spends eternity slaying monsters and protecting Setessa. Even a Demigod needs a safe place to rest their head. I see her going two ways after hours. Primal hunt – what fun would it be to try to run from a glorious monster hunter knowing that you don't have a chance and it’s only a matter of time before she finds you. Or a soft domme. She gave up her mortal life to protect those in her home. The core of her being is to protect and serve those who are important to her. Either way, yes please.
Bloodchief Ascension (she/her)
If you’ve made it this far… I’m assuming that you’ve figured out my ‘type’. Yeah, you’re not wrong. In my defense LOOK AT HER. Anything that she wants me to do. “Yes ma’am, is there anything else I can do for you?” This version of [card]Bloodchief Ascension[/card] is really giving Hel from MCU vibes and I’m 100% here for that. Unfortunately being an enchantment and not a creature there’s not lore about the character depicted. Either way, I’d be a very good noodle for this (probably) vampire mommy.
Magic has the most intricate and well thought out artwork of any card game on the market today. We don’t even have to enjoy art in the same way. Sometimes if for the lore, sometimes it’s just for the artistic skill; today though, today it’s for the spiciness.
